The Ministry of Environment, Space Planning and Infrastructure has imposed two fines totaling 10,000 euros on the Pristina municipality for failing to carry out legal obligations in waste management. Victory Minister Pacolli has indicated that fines have also been pronounced against other municipalities and regional waste companies, due to the serious garbage situation in some parts of the country.
Pacolli at a media conference after the Government meeting has said the situation poses a threat to the environment and public health, particularly criticising the Pristina Community for waste management and public company HINA Cleanification.

We information on the emergency and strategic steps we are taking, given the serious and unacceptable state of waste that has engulfed many parts of our country. This situation presents a real environmental hazard and an ongoing public health hazard. As you can see, some of the municipalities do a good job collecting waste, while others fail to perform the duties they are entitled to. Here unfortunately, the municipality of Pristina, which as the capital also has the largest number of residents, but the municipality of Pristina, in addition to lacking the will to carry out its obligations, they are also mismanaging with the public company öpassrimy. Before this situation, the government cannot sit back when an emergency situation develops even after our competencies are limited to waste management. To protect public health, the ministry has undertaken dozens of inspection shares and has imposed strict supervision, making it clear that mismanagement will not be tolerated at any level, she said.
The minister has announced that fines have also been pronounced against the Istog municipality and regional waste companies in Pristina, Peja and Decani.
Exactly why, in recent days we have imposed fines on those who failed to carry out their legal duties. Concretically, we have punished the Pristina municipality with two fines — two times 5,000 euros, the municipality of Istog with 5,000 euros — the Pristina regional company ʹPassriminha at 2,000 euros, the regional company éAmbinentı in Pec with two fines, one of 5,000 euros and one of 2,000 euros, as well as the company gygina in Decan with 2,000 euros. In addition to fines against municipalities, public companies, we have fined a large number of irresponsible citizens, who are continuing to dump garbage in countries where it is not allowed. Our field controls are frequent, and they are done through drones and cameras. Therefore, we invite each citizen to send waste to legal deposits in their regions, which are open every Saturday, she said.
Pacolli has said the situation with waste is even more difficult in northern municipalities, while having announced that the location for building a new depot has been set up in co-operation with the European Union for this part.
Situate in northern municipalities is more difficult. The location is scheduled for the north, and thanks to co-operation with the EU, the new depot will be built, she said.
