EU: Election results in Serbia do not change obligations in Dialog

The EU facilitated dialogue does not depend on specific political leaders. All existing pledges remain in force, including those stemming from the 2023 agreement on the Road to Normalisation and its Implementation Annex (The Ohrid Agreement), an EU spokesman has said in a written response.

According to them, at this stage it would be premature to speculate about possible changes in Serbia’s negotiating stance or their consequences in Dialog.

We expect Serbia to continue to engage constructively, honour its existing pledges and contribute to progress towards normalisation, the EU spokesman has stressed.

The European Union has expressed readiness to engage in the new leadership, with the goal of ensuring the continuation and maintaining the dynamics of the process.

In Serbia, extraordinary parliamentary elections were held on October 25th. Persuasive winners turned up the Student List, while former President Aleksandar Vuciq’s party suffered defeat.
