Ukaj has made it known that the decision on resignation was common and came as a result of the demand that additional work, increased commitment and responsibilities during reporting on this television format be assessed and properly compensated.

Today, the seven journalists of the clan Kosovo portal staff were jointly forced to resign, as a result of our disregard for additional compensation for the work and extraordinary commitment to coverage and reporting the Big Brother format V IP Kosova, Ukaj wrote.

She has stressed that the request was not made on behalf of an individual but represented the team’s common stand, which required that additional engagement be recognised and rightly rewarded.

This was a joint stance of an entire team, which demanded that additional work be assessed and compensated fairly, the journalist stressed.

In addition to Genita Ukaj, Lendita Elshani, Albina Hajoli, A. Gashi, Albert B. Bajrami, Kasim Gerbeshi and Andrew Krasniqi.

In her reaction, Ukaj has also told of the personal circumstances in which she has faced that decision. It has made it known that it is on the eve of the fifth month of pregnancy, naming leaving work in this period as a difficult decision.

I, Genita Ukaj, already on the eve of the fifth month of my pregnancy, was forced to leave this sensitive period of my life and remain unemployed, to prevent my dignity from being violated, she wrote.

Ukaj has reiterated that the journalists’ request was linked to the job assessment and respect for professional engagement, rejecting increased responsibilities without adequate compensation.

Our dignity is not negotiable!

AGK expresses concern and offers support to journalists

The Association of Kosovo Journalists ( The AGK, which has expressed deep concern about their departure from the clankosova portal.tv.

According to AGK, this case again testifies to the difficulties employees face in many media editorials in Kosovo, especially when it comes to working conditions, additional burden and compensation for professional engagement.

The AGK has called on the Kosovo Clan and other media instead of respecting the working Law provisions, as well as the rights of journalists and other employees.

And the association has expressed complete solidarity with Genita Ukain, Lendita Elshan, Albina Hajoll, River A. Gashi, Albert B. Bajrami, Kasim Grbesh and Andrew Krasniqi, offering support for any needs they may have, including legal assistance.

Until the information made public in the cited statements, the issue relates to journalists’ demand for additional compensation and their decision to leave work. The case has raised the importance of respecting workers’ rights and the need for additional involvement in media editorials to be handled fairly.
