An American woman blames vaccine for twin death, facing death penalty for murder

The prosecution in the American state of Idaho is seeking the death penalty for Andrea Shaw, 23, accused of killing her two twin children, who were found dead in May 2025. Shaw has been declared innocent and claims that children got sick and died after taking flu vaccines and other common childhood vaccines.

County Attorney Payette, Mike Duke, has stated in court documents that the autopsy uncovered signs consistent with drowning and that asphyxia was the only possible explanation for the death of twins. In July, a huge jury filed against Shaw two counts of murder in the first degree. Last week, Deputy Prosecutor Ryon Cirucek announced the court that the state intends to seek the death penalty.

The prosecution argues that there are four serious circumstances that justify this sentence: committing more than one murder, the particularly severe and cruel nature of crimes, the complete disregard of human life by prosecution, and the possibility of it posing a constant danger to society, videography.

Shaw’s lawyer, Joseph Filicetti, strongly rejected the request, saying the prosecution would fail to prove the case beyond reasonable suspicion. He has also called for the collapse of the indictment, claiming that irregularities were committed during procedures before the grand jury and that no evidence was presented that could support his client’s innocence.

According to the lawyer, the jury had not been informed that the district legal doctor had described the cause of death as indefinable but compatible with hyperthermia – body overheating. Pathologists who examined the twins had also concluded that the cause of death could not be determined, he said.

Filicetti claims the prosecution had the obligation to present to the jury even evidence that could support another explanation for the deaths. He also said authorities have not presented the motive, confession or evidence that, according to him, would prove that Shaw had killed the children.

In the court documents, the prosecution noted that the temperature in the bedroom where the twins slept often reached 100 degrees Fahrenheit (100 ° Fahrenheit, about 38 degrees Celsius). However, it was said that children had survived high temperatures before, and the time of their death did not match the temperature of the day.

The twins were found dead on the bed they shared on May 1st 2025. According to court documents, they were vaccinated eight days ago. The day after the vaccine, Shaw had sent them to the emergency room, reporting that they were sluggish and seemed to have a fever. The doctor had estimated that the symptoms might be a reaction to vaccines, had given them Tylenol and an ice cream on the stick before sending them home.

Police had then stated that they doubted criminal intervention and were treating the case as murder, without identifying suspects. A few days after the children’s death, Shaw spoke on an online show produced by Children’s Health Defence, known for attitudes against vaccines. The organization was founded by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who resigned from his post in December 2024 before joining President Donald Trump’s administration.

Medical experts stress that vaccines against hepatitis A, flu and DTP, which relate to the case, are safe and effective for children and are recommended by various medical organisations.

Shaw is also the plaintiff in a federal court process filed by Children’s Health Defence and others against the American Academy of Paddys. The indictment accuses the organisation of legal violations and fraud regarding the safety of vaccines, while the academy has called it a part of a campaign against the institution and use of scientific evidence in vaccine policies.

Andrea Shaw is being held in custody without bail, while the trial is scheduled to begin in January. /Telegraphy/
