Annual computerized tomography lung scan ( Low doses of radiation may reduce the risk of dying from lung cancer by 20 percent, according to doctors. This examination is especially important for smokers or has a long history of consumption, since the disease can develop for years without manifesting visible symptoms.
As Fox News reports, early discovery can increase access and survival. Daniel J. Boffa, a trocal surgeon at Yale University, considers this examination one of the most important ways to identify lung cancer in early stages before the disease progresses.

Who should be checked out?
According to instructions from the American Cancer Association, low-down CT annual scan is recommended for persons between 50 and 80, who are currently smoking or leaving it, and have a history of tobacco consumption of at least 20-year-olds.
This means, for example, smoking a pack of cigarettes a day for 20 years or two packs a day for 10 years.
Before conducting the examination, individuals should discuss with their doctor the benefits, limitations, and possible dangers of the doctor. Smokers are also advised to seek professional support to leave it.
What are the warning signs?
In early stages lung cancer often does not cause symptoms. Signs may appear only when the disease progresses and may include:
Continued cough or normal cough change;
Hard to breathe;
Blood coughing;
Weight loss without clear cause;
Persistent headaches or other neurological symptoms.
These symptoms may also be caused by other health problems, but if they appear, it is important to ask for medical recognition.
Are even people who have never smoked?
Yeah. Even people who have never smoked can develop lung cancer. According to the article, about one in seven cases appears in nonsmoking people.
However, for this group there are not yet general guidelines designed for routine deportation. Boffa has stressed that those with first – degree relatives with lung cancer history should discuss with their doctor if they can benefit from regular checkups.
Researchers are continuing their work in determining which nonsmoking individuals can benefit from this type of control.
How long does the scan last, and what can it detect?
Low – dose CT scan lasts just a few minutes and may identify minor knots or lung changes, which do not necessarily mean that the person has cancer.
According to Boffas, more than 99 percent of the nodes discovered are nenenes. They may be linked to previous infections, old signs, or inflammatory processes.
Examination can also reveal other health changes. Hence, the results should be appreciated by the doctor, who determines whether additional checks are needed or some other diagnostic step.
