Frequent consumption of highly processed foods, such as readyed doughnuts, soft drinks and sugar, sweetened morning cereals, and ready foods can be linked to higher risk of brain damage by middle age.
According to a study conducted in Canada, where about 90,000 people aged 35 to 69 were tested, those who consumed more highly refined food were 40 percent more likely to show signs of a condition known as silent stroke.

The study was conducted by researchers from McMister University and the Institute of Population Health Research, while results were reported by The Seattle Times.
The silent attack on the brain can occur without visible symptoms, but it can cause permanent damage. This situation also relates to higher risk for future brain attacks and memory problems.
I was surprised, to be honest, said Russell de Souza, associate professor at McMister University and researcher in this field.
According to researchers, ultra processed foods averaged about 25 percent of the participants ‘ diet, while in some persons it reached 40 percent.
Researcher Sonia Anand pointed out that the effect of feeding on brain health can be seen before people experience obvious memory problems or thinking ability.
Our findings suggest that the impact of feeding on brain health can be revealed in the face of obvious problems with memory or thinking has been expressed.
However, researchers point out that further research is needed to improve the understanding of this relationship. The study shows a link between the high consumption of highly processed foods and signs of brain damage, but it does not prove that these foods are their direct cause.
