Netflix documentary series for late actor Matthew Perry will be broadcast without his co-operation at Friendsı, who have decided not to participate in the project, according to sources.

According to Page Six, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer were contacted to participate in the documentary The One About Matthew Perry, but they decided to turn down the invitation.

They contacted and decided not to participate, the source said, adding that the documentary would give space to friends and other colleagues from Perry’s life that share memories with him.

Another source explained specifically why Jennifer Aniston will not be part of the project. He declared that it would be very difficult for the actress to experience the loss of the camera again.

There’s no way Jennifer ever does that. She doesn’t want to go through again and make it so public, the source said.

The three-part series was led by Mary Robertson, and the project will offer a view of Matthew’s life. Perry before his death at 54. The documentary will also present his sister Mia Perry Bowick, who will reflect on the complexity of his life and the legacy he left behind.

Perry remained close to all of his former associates after the end of the Uniteds in 2004. In his memoirs, he specifically singled out Jennifer Aniston, who attributed him to the care he received most and to control it more.

As a reminder, the actor was found unconscious in a hot tub at his home in Pacific Palisades in October 2023. It was later determined that he died from acute effects of ketamine, a drug used to treat depression.

Five people were arrested in connection with his death, including Perry’s assistant and two doctors. All reached plea agreement, while four of the five suffered prison sentences.

Perry spoke publicly about his addiction to drugs and alcohol, as well as his problems with alcohol before death. In his memoirs, friends, lovers, and the terrible big thing, published in 2022, he discovered that he had spent more than $9 million on rehabilitation.

I went through hell and I’m back, and I’m still here. I want to share my story because I want people to know they’re not alone. There is hope. You can heal, Perry wrote.

The premiere of the documentary series The One About Matthew Perry is scheduled for October 27th, the third anniversary of the actor’s death.
