The Court of War Crimes in Rome has sentenced Mark Antony Samson, the 24-year-old Italian-Philopinian, to life imprisonment for his former girlfriend, Ilaria Sula, in March 2025.
The decision was announced on Tuesday, October 27th, of a crime that shocked Italian public opinion. Soula, 22, was a student of statistics at a Roman university and was born in the Umbria region.

According to the Italian news agency ANSA, Samson was found guilty of murder under grave circumstances, including preconception, and of hiding the corpse.
The 24-year-old killed his former partner with a knife before she put her body in a bag and threw it into a cliff, trying to hide the crime.
Samson, a graduate of architecture, admitted that he had committed the murder during questioning by police in April 2025.
According to his testimony, the event took place on the morning of March 26, after Ilaria spent the night in his apartment at Via Homs Street in the Italian capital’s African district.
The new one had gone to the former partner’s apartment on the 25 March evening to return some clothes. According to Samson’s version, the visit was extended and she had decided to stay overnight instead of returning home on the night bus.
The couple had recently been separated before the event, after a several – month relationship, which, according to the testimony of the convicts, had faced difficult times.
With the October 27th ruling, the court pronounced Samson the worst sentence anticipated by Italian penal legislation – life imprisonment.
