Bedri Hamza resigns from head of PDK

Bedri Hamza has resigned irrevocable from the position of PDK chairman. Bedri Hamza said at the media conference that membership will mean it.

Hamza said this decision paves the way for a new election process inside The PDK, through which members will decide on the future leadership of the party, stressing the importance of greater youth involvement and opportunities for them to take responsibility.

Hamza claimed that the responsibilities he received in 2020, following sending former PDK leaders to The Hague, including running for Mitrovica Mayor, running three times in a row for prime minister and party leadership, has taken them because of responsibility for Kosovo’s PDK and not personal ambitions.

He said that during his leadership, he has focused on preserving the unity of the party, its structures and the confidence of members and voters.

I’m not leaving PDK. I’m leaving the mayor’s position only, but not because of my faith in our political values. As long as I have life, I will be loyal voters of the Democratic Party of Kosovo and member of this large political family, he said.

Hamza also spoke of the decision of the Specialised Chambers on former KLA leaders, expressing his disappointment with injustice in The Hague, and stressing that efforts for justice, dawning the truth and returning them to families and Kosovo will continue.

In the end, Hamza thanked all PDK members, structures and supporters for their continued trust and support.

He stressed that the party and the country’s interest should always be on personal interest. I don’t want the PDK just to lead it. I loved him, and I’ll love him without leading him.
