US Deputy Representative to United Nations Organization ( The UN, Tammy Bruce, has declared that long-term progress in relations between Kosovo and Serbia depends on Pristina and Belgrade, not the UN Security Council.
Speaking at the Security Council meeting, where the six-month report by UNMIK chief is being discussed, Bruce called on both sides to show restraint, take concrete steps to build confidence and engage constructively in dialogue.

She said US President Donald Trump admires both countries and wants peace, stability and prosperity in the Balkans.
The peace between Kosovo and Serbia is not only essential. President Trump admires both countries and wants peace, stability and prosperity. In this direction, we call on both sides to show restraint, to take practical steps towards building trust and maintaining stability and engaging constructively in dialogue, said Bruce, Klankosova.tv.
She stressed that long-term progress must come from Kosovo and Serbia itself.
The long-term Progress will come from Pristina and Belgrade, not from the Security Council, she said.
Bruce also called for closure of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo ( U n NMIC), arguing that his mandate no longer responds to the current reality in the country.
According to her, today’s Kosovo differs significantly from that of 1999, while the presence of KFOR, the European Union, the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe ( O The SEU and other UN agencies provide more suitable mechanisms for performing tasks that have remained in UNMIK’s mandate.
We’re watching with an overarching mission. We cannot claim that the mission has any significant role in governing Kosovo, Bruce said.
She named him U n NMIC as a mission with a lot of staff, but without peacekeepers, praising that its continuation, after completing the job, helps no one and could harm vulnerable groups.
Bruce also criticised the Security Council’s inability to review the mission’s mandate, calling it a sign of the UN system’s failure.
Our inability to review UNMIK’s permanent mandate is a serious warning sign of the failure of the UN system is our inability to act when the moment calls for action, she said.
In conclusion, the American representative stressed that the Security Council must choose between continuing the mission and better managing United Nations sources.
The timing of this mission has ended, Bruce concluded. /Telegraphy.
