Russia willing to resume talks with US, Ukraine on ending war

Russia is a principle willing to resume talks with the United States and Ukraine on ending the war, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s adviser, Yuri Usakov, has declared.

His statement comes after Putin’s meeting with US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, in St Petersburg, Russia, reports the BBC.

Usakov has said a new round of trilateral talks could be held next month, citing as a possible date about November 10th.

He stressed that the talks should focus on building a security system for Russia and Ukraine after the end of the conflict.

Ukraine has called on Moscow to resume trilateral talks immediately, which were suspended in February. Meanwhile, Usakov said the ideas presented by Witkoff after his meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and the leaders of Norway and Finland, were not very useful.

Senior officials from Russia, Ukraine and the US have held several rounds of talks aimed at ending the war, which began in February 2022 when Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The talks were suspended as the Kremlin blamed last month’s Ukrainian attacks on targets in Russia, which it described as massive for their interruption.
