KThe Parliament’s workshop, Albulen Haxhiu, has called for account for the murder of Arlinda Zekiaj, questioning the responsibility of justice and security institutions in handling such cases.

During her speech at the extraordinary session, Haxhiu has asked whether the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have adequately addressed the legislation and mechanisms available to them.

Arlinda Zekiaj was killed Sunday in Vitomirica, Pec. Three days before the murder, she had turned to the Founding Prosecutor at Pec for emergency intervention, warning that her life was in danger.

In her letter to the prosecution, she had sought measures against officials who, according to her, had failed in fulfilling their duties.

I urgently ask for measures against all officials who have seriously failed in fulfilling their duties, bearing responsibility to each other and thus allowing the consequences and risks for my life to continue, the letter said.

It had also requested the immediate execution of the court order as well as the opening of investigations into all officials involved.

I wish the day would not come when you and the responsible institutions would be forced to answer the account only after my life was taken, Zekij wrote.
