The riots and clashes with police in downtown Barcelona have raised security concerns, just hours before the big confrontation between Barcelona and Real Madrid, which takes place tonight at the stadium Spotific Camp Nou.
According to Reuters, Saturday’s riots at the Square of Placa de Catalunya ended with about 100 people arrested, among them 27 minors. In the incidents, fires were reported at more than 30 locations, while 14 businesses were damaged or robbed.

Protests, organised through social networks and inspired by student movements in France, according to authorities, were not related to the football game.
Events have restored the memories of October 2019, when El Classico was postponed because of political tensions in Catalonia. However, this time the situation is presented differently, as protesters have not targeted the match and there have been no official demands for changing schedules.
The confrontation between Barcelona and Real Madrid was classified as a high – risk match since October 14th. Therefore, security measures around the stadium and at the main points of the city have increased.
Despite the unrest, the match between the two life rivals will take place on schedule.
