According to police, the effectives were attacked by stones, screws, metal spheres, sticks, pyrotechnics, Molotov bombs and gas bombs linked to captola.

As a result of attacks by masked and violent persons, five police officers were injured, said the State Police report.

Regarding the 28-year-old E. The V., who suffered eye damage during the protest, the General Director of State Police has ordered the launch of investigations by the Directorate of Professional Standards.

The General Director of State Police ordered the immediate launch of relevant actions […] for the full and impartial investigation of the circumstances of the event, it is said in response.

Police have expressed regret over the young man’s injury, congratulating rapid recovery, as well as citizens, journalists and police workers injured during protests in Tirana.

Another case being investigated has been linked to a police officer who appears on a media display, acting in a way that, according to police, raises doubts about overstepping the task and disrespecting the principle of proportionality.

For this reason, State Police Director General has suspended Inspector A from office. K., part of the Special Forces of Albania. An administrative investigation by the Professional Standards Directorate has also been launched towards him.

At the conclusion of the response, State Police stress that the protection of citizens’ lives and security remains the primary obligation, while any case suspected of overstepping competencies will be investigated impartially.

Respecting the law, proportional to the use of force and individual responsibility are non-negotiable principles in the exercise of police duty, the State Police points out.

The institution underlines that it will not tolerate actions that conflict with law, citizens’ rights and professional standards that should guide the work of police employees. /Telegraphy/
