The ex-investigator, now lawyer Muhamet Mujaj, has named the suspensions of police and prosecutorial officials regarding the treatment of late reports Arlinda Zekaj, who was killed on October 25th in Vitomirica in Pec.

Commenting on this issue at FIVE TV Dukagjin, Mujaj has said the suspensions had to be done immediately, while he has estimated that the pressure of citizens and media has affected the company of these measures.

The regrets should be immediate. Perhaps there would be no suspension so far because we are used to not being responsible. But it has been the enormous pressure of citizens, of the media, of people who know what the state is. This pressure has influenced him to start with suspensions, which I consider late, Mujaj has declared.

He has estimated that the measures taken so far include only part of the potential responsible ones, demanding that responsibility be extended to other institutions as well.

It’s a partial suspension, just a segment. I’d have to take responsibility a little further, he said.

Mujaj has stressed that responsibility for the case should not only be limited to security and justice institutions, but the role of politics and ministries should also be considered.

It’s not just the security and justice institutions responsible. Politics, ministries, all policy-making institutions, and creating better conditions for citizens are responsible for this case, Mujaj has declared at FIVE.

These comments come after the suspension of 11 police officials, based on the recommendation of Kosovo Police Inspectorate, as well as the suspension of chief prosecutor of the Constitutional Prosecutor in Pec, Joye Vucetaj, and prosecutor Arlinda Nallban-Gacaferi, following the recommendation of Chief State Prosecutor Zejullah Gashi.

According to the IPK’s preliminary findings, in handling cases reported by Zekij have been recorded concessions related to the execution of defence orders, risk-level assessment and failure to examine a police investigator’s request for case assessment and increased safeguard clauses.
