Former Kosovo Police General Reshat Maliqi has deemed the suspension of 11 police officials over handling cases reported by the late Arlinda Zekij as late.

Commenting on this FIVE issue of TV Dukagjin, Maliqi has said the measures against police officials have had to be undertaken earlier, as, according to him, it has not taken much time to prepare a report and assess possible concessions.

I think it’s a little delayed assessment, they’re late in taking such measures. I believe there was an early possibility that it did not take long to become a report and assess the concessions of police officials, Maliqi has declared.

He has stressed that full analysis of the case could highlight information and other responsibilities, citing that new data concerning Zekij’s case is being made public every day.

According to Maliqi, the victim had documented in writing and through recorded conversations its actions, so, according to him, institutions cannot be reasoned that they were unaware of the case.

And no one can reason that she did not know her case, but concessions, neglect, not taking appropriate measures is seen to be in the institutions, both the police and the prosecution, perhaps even the court, he said.

The former general has estimated that, depending on the findings of the investigation, all responsible persons must face their responsibility, including at the central level.

I believe depending on the findings in the case, we all have to face the responsibility that belongs to them at the central level, Maliqi stressed.
