The Spanish coach has made significant investments over the summer, transferring Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcolan. In 2026/27, Liverpool has suffered only one loss in 12 matches held in all races.
Jerard has expressed confidence that Alexander Isaac can achieve his best form in the coming months if he manages to be willing and play regularly. He has also praised Barcola’s influence, but has raised concerns about the number of goals accepted by the team.
This team needs Isaac to be healthy, ready and able to play over and over again, because he’s an attacker who marks goals at Premierlige, Gerard has declared on the Overlap Daily show.
Liverpool’s former captain has also been impressed by Barchola’s appearances, which according to him is gaining more and more rhythm and is proving his qualities after physical restoration.
Barcola seems very fast, and now, with the minutes accumulated in the match, she seems to have achieved her physical shape. He’s spent ten days until two great weeks. Now we can see the player who’s transferred, Gerard said.
However, his main concern remains the defensive phase. Liverpool has recorded only one match without taking a goal in the last five meetings.
Gerard has estimated that the midfield may be very strong when Alexis MacAllister, Ryan Gravenberg and Dominic Szoboszlai are all ready, but believes the team lacks a special player profile.
The question is if they can protect themselves sufficiently because they have accepted many goals. Mac Allister has returned to his best form, the Gravenberch is back on the team and, if we also have Szoboszlain, the midfield is strong when everyone is ready, he stressed.
In the end, Gerard noted that Liverpool lacks a physical midfielder, capable of controlling the center of the field, and preventing opponents from easily entering.
I still think that Liverpool lacks a powerful player in the center of the midfield, someone to control that area and not allow opponents to pass through it easily. A profile like Fabinho or Diddy Hamann has completed the former captain of the English team.
