With a statement of waiting for justice in front of the state camera, lawyer Besnik R. Berisha has started his defence at today’s hearing at the Court of Appeals, in the case of 400kg of cocaine, the Signal newspaper reports.
There is no one more sad than the one awaiting justice when the entire state machine is put on it, Berisha has declared.
The case has arrived in Apel after the Constitutional Court in Pristina on March 19, 2026, sentenced the five accused to a total of 75 years in prison and 108 thousand euros in fines.
Company owner M C# source files FOD ‘%, Izet Sheqiri, was sentenced to 20 years in prison and 63 thousand euros in fines, including a 3 thousand-euro fine for illegal possession. Faton Vrajolli was sentenced to 20 years in prison and 30 thousand euros in fines, while Kadri Sheqiri was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 5 thousand euros in fines.
With 10 years in prison and 5 thousand euros in fines were sentenced to Kadri Brahimi and Fehmi Bytyqi.
The trial was declared by the court, led by Judge Dandrim Arrni. The five accused were found guilty of participating or organising the organised criminal group, while Izet Sheqiri was also convicted of illegal weapons. With that decision, Brahimit and Bytyqi were given custody, while three others continued the move.
Cocaine in Brazil’s Chicken Load
According to the Special Prosecutor’s Act, the accused, in collaboration with individuals from Brazil, through the company M C# source files FOD ‘%s’ had a deal with the company SEHAH to import frozen chicken meat. In the package, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, cocaine was placed in quantities of 400 pounds [400 kg].
The shipment was discovered on May 17, 2021. During the trial, the five accused had denied involvement in narcotics trafficking, while Izet Sheqiri had pleaded guilty only to illegal weapons.
The prosecution claimed Sheqiri had kept in touch with driver Fehmi Bytyqi over the shipment of cargo from Albania to Kosovo. According to the indictment, after arriving at the customs terminal in Fushe-Kosovo, Bytyqi had recorded goods in the container and sent the recording to Sheqiri.
Two charged pleaded guilty to separate procedures
In this case, Hyzri Sheqiri and Naim Morina were initially charged, but procedures against them were singled out after the plea agreement.
Hyzri Sheqiri was sentenced to seven months in effective prison, while Naim Morina was sentenced to six months, both for obstructing criminal procedure.
The first – degree act also ordered the seizure of narcotics, the means that had enabled them to commit criminal acts and the weapon for which Izet Sheqiri was convicted. The time spent in detention and house arrest was counted in prison sentences.
