Former Serbian delegation seeks Petar Petkov’s resignation, investigation into money destined for Serbs in Kosovo

Former Serbian Parliament President and Alliance for Kosovo founder Zarko Ristic has asked the so-called Office for Kosovo in Serbia’s Government to resign and publicise the way the money destined for the Serb people in Kosovo is spent.

Ristic has declared that the policy represented by Petkoviqi has caused serious damage to the Serbian people and that the director of the Office for Kosovo must shoulder political responsibility for its results.

Enough of excuses. What did you promise, what did you achieve, and what did the people receive from the politics you represent? You cannot seek the faith of the people and refuse responsibility for your decisions and results, Ristic has declared.

He has stressed that Petkov’s resignation should not be the end of the issue, also demanding verification of the way the funds destined for Serbs in Kosovo are spent.

Ristic has said that the issue was raised even during the time when it was part of the Parliamentary Commission for Kosovo and Metohija, while now seeking to review the financing of controversial projects and determine responsibility for possible abuses.

He has called on the competent prosecutor to investigate allegations of double financing of the same projects, as well as payments for projects that, according to him, exist only in documentation.

The former delegation has demanded that Petkovic’s role in the adoption of financing, including decisions made, signed documents and spending control mechanisms, be considered in particular.

It is necessary to check contracts, payments, reports on implementation and the current situation on the ground. For any controversial project, it must be determined how much money is shared, who is paid and what was done with that money, Ristic said.

According to him, if it proves that the same project has been paid more than once or that money has been paid for non-work, the responsibility of all involved should be determined, regardless of their name or position.

The money destined for the survival of our people in the Republic of Kosovo is no one’s private fund. Every dinar should have a trace, every project a result and any abuse responsible, he has declared.

Ristic has ended up calling for Petkov’s resignation, publishing documentation for controversial projects and taking action by the prosecution.

He has stressed that political and criminal responsibility are separate issues, adding that the resignation does not rule out criminal responsibility if wrongdoing is proven.
