Parliament Speaker Albulen Haxhiu has hosted representatives of the Kosovo Women’s Network, with which she has discussed advancing gender equality and strengthening women’s rights.

Haxhiu has indicated that at the meeting it has been discussed for the priorities of the parliamentary gender agenda, the drafting of laws from the gender perspective and empowering the Watch Tower role in their implementation.

It has expressed commitment to advancing this agenda during the current legislature, in co-operation with women’s organisations.

I extended my will and dedication to further this agenda, in close cooperation with women’s organisations, making sure that gender equality takes its place in the work and decision making of the Assembly, Haxhiu wrote.

It has also praised the multi-year work of the Kosovo Women’s Network and 106 member organisations.

I especially appreciate the long-term work of the Network and 106 member organizations, as well as their insistence on turning legally guaranteed rights into rights enjoyed in daily life, Haxhiu stressed.
