Drenusha Latifi has reminded Vetvendosje Movement MP Edona Lallosi that the political mandate also carries responsibility for protecting women facing violence and seeking assistance from institutions.

Through a public reaction, Latifi stressed that although she and Lllosh have different stories, both know what it means to seek protection. According to her, the difference lies in the fact that one is looking for an account today, while the other, through the MP’s position, is likely to call on institutions.

State is not a privilege for itself, but a responsibility to protect those who have no voice has it written.

Latif has also spoken publicly about her personal experience. In February 2024, she had claimed to have experienced physical and psychological violence from her former husband, Atilla Cardesh. At that time, she had made it known that she had denounced the case to the police, that the case was under trial, and that a ban had been imposed on him. Later, she had also published pictures of injuries attributed to the alleged violence.

Meanwhile, Edona Lalloshi has also faced a reported case regarding family violence allegations. In December 2024, while a candidate for deputy from the Vetevendosje ranks, the media reported her husband’s arrest after a report on family violence allegations. The prosecution had confirmed that the case was under investigation and that the appointment of the detention measure was required.

In January 2026 it was also reported that the court had rejected an indictment against him for disrespect of the court, which was associated with contact with children. These developments are specific issues and should be dealt with in harmony with the facts and relevant decisions.

Following the assassination of Arlinda Zekiaj on October 25th, her case has turned to attention the responsibility of institutions for protecting women reporting threats and seeking assistance.

According to information reported on the case, Arlinda had denounced threats and had a defence order. She had complained about his failure to comply, while a police official had called for additional measures for her security. Her husband too had been banned. However, on October 25, shortly after returning home accompanied by police, she was killed by her brother – in – law.

The case has raised major questions about how warnings and measures taken to protect it were addressed, as well as institutional responsibility in the case.

After Arlinda’s murder, Lallosi had re-published a 2024 video with an appeal against violence against women. Meanwhile, the MP Women’s Group has also called for investigation into institutional responsibility in the case.

However, public response against violence against women does not replace the need for concrete answers from institutions on how the Arlinda case was handled and whether the measures taken were sufficient to protect it.

As the ruling party’s deputy, Lalosi will likely seek clarification, raise the issue in relevant institutions, and seek accounts for possible failures in the women’s defence system.

There is no evidence that political ties have affected the handling of its case. However, the principle of women’s protection should be the same for all, whether they are related to people of power or direct access to institutions.
