The leading local protagonist was Shannon Shorter, who erupted in the last few minutes, giving his team victory after two consecutive losses.

The encounter held on Sunday evening at the gym — Sesai Surroi — in Prizren brought a dramatic end, since Peja was in the lead for most of the match, but failed to preserve the advantage at crucial moments.

When there were 2 minutes and 49 seconds to the end, Peja was leading with a score of 77:69 and seemed close to victory. However, the Union reacted strongly, with Shorter taking responsibility for the attack.

Initially, it scored for 77:71, while Lacon Zeqiri narrowed the outlook to 77:72. Shorter went on with other points, drawing the Union to just three points at a margin, 77:74.

Peja failed in several consecutive attacks, and local teams exploited it. Shorter equalled the score at 77:77, one minute and 17 seconds before the end, before an even crucial three seconds before completion, passing the Union to 80:77.

Shorter’s strike changed the course of the match, while Aryan Azem later scored for 82:77, giving the Union an advantage the team has maintained to the end.

Shorter was the most prominent basketball player in the meeting with 27 points, leading the overthrow of the Presidential Team. Azem contributed seven points, seven dances and six assistings, while Gian Klavell wrapped up the match with 15 points and four assets.

At Peja, the brilliant performance of Dwight Wilson, who recorded 27 points and 16 jumps, did not suffice to avoid defeat. Xavier Johnson added 11 points and six jumps, while Altin Morina contributed 13 points.

With this victory, the Union continues to head the table with 11 points, after five victories and a defeat in six matches.

On the other hand, Peja suffered the fifth consecutive defeat and remains with two victories, garnering a total of eight points.
