The Arsenal took advantage of Manchester City’s loss in the best way, recording three important points and leading to 21 points after that victory.
The Londoners’ success protagonists were defenders Ezri Konsa and Gabriel Magalhaes, who scored from a goal. Consca unblocked the results in the first half, while Gabriel sealed the win with a head-to-head kick in the second half.
After the match, Arteta particularly praised Gabriel’s stance, which, despite concerns after a possible injury, decided to continue the game and then contributed goals.
When I talk about team mentality, of course it reflects the mentality of individuals inside the team. Gabi is a fine example. We were all concerned not only about the way he fell but also about the reaction of the players close to him, Arteta said.
However, he immediately said he wanted to continue and then scored a goal that helped us win the match. This is what we expect from our players, the Spanish coach added.
Arteta also praised Consea’s appearance, which has soon adapted to the Arsenal Department, in terms when the team faces the absence of William Saliba.
It’s extraordinary to join a club as big as Arsenal, without having the opportunity to develop pre-zonal preparations and get to play on this level. He has created a very good partnership with Gabi, while their co-operation seems quite stable. This is very difficult to reach, Arteta said.
Consa’s goal was also Arsenal’s first goal from a standard cut, without including penalties, in all competitions during this season. Arteta believes this realisation can give the team even more confidence in this aspect of the game.
I am convinced that this will help us unlock something and increase the confidence of players. You should see them during their training, concentration and conviction they have in what we’re doing, as well as in the work of the standard suspension coach, Nicolas Joverić, he said.
After that, Arsenal and Manchester City have 21 points to the top of the Premier League table, but Pep Guardola’s team continues to have better goals.
With this victory, Arsenal sends a clear signal that he intends to be a serious contender again in the race for the champion of England.
